GAR-FIELD HIGH SCHOOL ORCHESTRA
A Proud Tradition
The Gar-Field High School Orchestra program has an enrollment of one hundred students.
Three Orchestras are offered during three different class periods at Gar-Field.
9th grade orchestra
The 9th grade orchestra is a grade III/IV orchestra and meets everyday. No audition needed.
Concert Orchestra
The concert Orchestra is a grade IV/V orchestra and meets during a block class. The Concert orchestra is made up of 10 - 12th graders. No audition needed.
Chamber Orchestra
The chamber orchestra is a grade VI orchestra that meets during a block class. The orchestra consists of students in grades 10-12, and are selected by audition.

Virginia American String Teachers Association
The Gar-Field Orchestra was the recipient of the 1988 Outstanding Orchestra Program Award presented by the VASTA.
All Virginia Orchestra
During the past 27 years, the orchestra program has had 122 students selected by audition to participate in All Virginia Orchestra, an average of 4.5 students a year.

MENC Eastern Division Convention
The Chamber Orchestra performed at the MENC Eastern Division Convention in 1987.
North Central Senior Regional Orchestra
Gar-Field is always very well represented at Senior Regional Orchestra with about 25 percent of the string players being selected by audition from Gar-Field each year.
All County Orchestra
Gar-Field is also very well represented at Prince William All County Orchestra with about 25 percent of the string players being selected by audition from Gar-Field every year.
About the Director
Gerald Fowkes received his Music Degree from Louisiana State University. He is in his 2nd year of teaching at Gar-Field High School. Mr. Fowkes has adjudicated festivals and guest conducted throughout Virginia.
